The construction of the balloon is based on the same principle as the “sky lantern” used at various events in several countries around the world. This sort of balloon is constructed in a lightweight material like rice paper or tissue paper, and then projected into the sky with a torch. The torch heats the air inside the balloon. At some point, the air heated by the torch inside the balloon is lighter that the cold air outside and the balloon flies.
The chosen material is the tissue paper. This very fragile paper has the advantage of being very light. 1 square meter weighs about 20 grams. 100 square meters weigh 2 Kg.
The colors chosen for the project are the following 5 colors added with 5 other. The origin of the paper comes from rolls measuring 50 cm wide and 5 meters long.
